I joined a group of artists in the Bristol Plein Air Painters group to paint the balloons on a beautiful warm morning in August. We arrived very early as the balloons set off from about 6:30am. I was taken back by the view to the opposite side of Bristol from the balloons. The balloons flew, but they decided to fly south, rather than across Bristol – but I wasn’t disappointed as I got to drink in a stunning view of Bristol’s harbour… and this is the painting that followed.
