What might have been… yet | Oil on canvas | 46cm x 53cm
About "What might have been... yet"
In this portrait I was going for brevity of information in the real aspects of the scene, and a bit tighter in the painting – which denotes that I am more experienced in landscapes than people.
The wider narrative behind it is, that my hand is holding a missing paint brush.
That denotes the missing 25 years of painting. I’m sat to look too tall for the sofa, so there’s an awkwardness about me (I’m 6’4”), and I’m a new artist who is finding his voice – there is an uncertainty. I’m sat in front of the painting that got me painting again.
And the title, “what might have been… yet”, denotes my genuine belief and passion that I will never stop painting, there is a heck of a lot to come!
