Come see my work at North Street Gallery this spring

Neil Watson
Artist

Every canvas is an opportunity to tell a story: a fiction, a biography, a fantasy. Every piece builds, layer over layer, fat over lean, until the story is told.

My art isn’t about form, it’s about moments and movements – I want to move people to pause, just for a moment. I paint from real world inspiration. The places, the people, the real narrative of place rather than the curated tour.

I’m drawn to the landscape, especially the urban setting and how we humans interact with one another and place.

I paint in oils, turning up the amps on chroma to journal the world around me in heightened colour. Why?

The world is full of energy and hope – humanity’s aura is bright despite the shackles of mundanity that we apply to our existence.

My art celebrates that hope.
