Check out the fantastic “Making a Mark Blog” to read a forensic review of the show. (Link to main blog as episode not yet available)
This page is not as instructive as Making a Mark, but it’s my view of the episode and importantly a place where fans of the show can vote for their winner!
Episode 8
PAOTY – Series 11
For links to the artists check Making a Mark Blog, but here’s my summary: The sitters were Rebecca Taylor, Emma Thynn, Dr. Karan Rajan.
Another week of high standards, but I think we’ve reached the point where you have no chance unless you take on the full pose, so it really does mean that loose painters who don’t layout in pencil first and go for it are the ones that will get shortlisted.
For me, the final three were: Gaby, Kirsten and Katie and my winner, Kirsten – but so close – I went with Kirsten because the pose was important, that said I think I prefer Katie’s work! Which was yours?

Getting used to being so puzzled and hugely dissapointed with the judges decision each week, that I now watch the programme to simply enjoy watching artists paint. Nothing against the judges in a personal sense, but it really is time to change the panel and definitely include ” the people’s choice” just like they do on the Chelsea flower show programme each year.
I think a people’s vote – that doesn’t affect the outcome – is possible, but Sky do so little to support the show.
There could be real community engagement on the show – upload your own efforts etc etc. I’m tempted to create the site myself, but don’t want to be sued by Sky!
Feels like there is a thriving artistic community waiting for an outlet.
